City launches new website showcasing benefits of doing business in Markham

MARKHAM, ON – June 22, 2023 – The City of Markham has launched a new website for those looking for information on starting or growing their business in Markham. The new website can be accessed at MarkhamBusiness.ca.

“There are many incredible reasons why the City of Markham is and remains a top choice for entrepreneurs wanting to start, grow, or locate their businesses,” says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. "Our new Economic Development website, MarkhamBusiness.ca, will provide a central location to showcase the benefits of doing business in Markham, including highlighting different services provided by the City, as well as unique programs offered by partners in our ecosystem.”

Targeted at both Markham-based businesses, and those who are exploring the possibility to expand to Markham, the new website provides a range of resources including available services, resources and programs. It also features testimonials from local business leaders on the value of building a company in Markham.

“When a business needs help or is looking to grow in your community, they need to access information quickly and easy,” says Markham’s Director of Economic Growth, Culture and Entrepreneurship, Chris Rickett. “With this in mind, we built MarkhamBusiness.ca to make it easy for local entrepreneurs to connect with us and the information they need.”

The new website also shares the history of Markham’s evolution from a sleepy suburb into one of North American’s largest technology clusters. From tech giant IBM locating their Canadian headquarters in Markham, to becoming home to Canada’s largest concentration of semiconductor companies, the story of Markham’s innovation community is one of rapid development and ground-breaking impact.
